An rare out-phase overline fault of double circuits on the same tower and the action of relay protection are described.The fault type and location are confirmed based on relay protection action report and fault recorder.The action of circuit protection is analyzed in detail combined with the relay protection principles.This paper indicates that common high-frequency protection devices can only remove the fault while it cannot guarantee correct selection because of the faulty phase selector when a complicated fault occurs.And the countermeasures are provided to deal with the problem of double circuits on the same tower caused by lightning strike.
